STS was invited to share its practices in quality assurance to protect clients’ solar assets at Solar Quality 2021

Continuous BOM control and manufacturing supervision by an ISO17020-accredited inspection body de-risks your solar asset.

After a successful digital conference last year, Solar Quality is back in 2021 and will bring together experts from the fields of O&M, Asset Management and EPC to advance the long-term quality of Europe’s solar power assets.

As a global leader in conformity assessment service for PV module, STS was invited and shared its practices in quality assurance to protect clients’ solar assets at the session – “Maintaining quality over the solar asset lifecycle”.

Here below is a recap from Dr. Frédéric Dross’ sharing as VP of Strategic Development at STS.

Solar product is the combination of Design, Material, and Processes. Product design can be verified through a set of tests, e.g. accelerated lifetime test, and LID/LeTID/PID tests. It is also possible to evaluate whether a product was designed according to the best design and development practices (ask about our D&D audits). Besides, It is of critical importance to ensure that the materials used during manufacturing match the materials defined in the design. Finally, similarly to materials quality control, manufacturing process quality should remain under control during the entire production.

STS completed GWs of PV module inspections in Q1 2021 and found that nearly a third of the projects exhibited at least one BOM-related non-conformity. Our inspection database also shows that findings in night shifts are twice more likely than in day shifts. 80% of STS customers ask us for 24/7 inspection presence.

Continuous BOM control and manufacturing supervision by an ISO17020-accredited inspection body de-risks your solar asset. STS Standard for Approval and Dispatch of PV Modules (STS-STD-PVM1:2018©) protects your assets by offering a homogeneous quality level across your entire portfolio.
